Digibank HK

We successfully launched the new Digibank HK in April 2021! This project involved a complete app redesign, incorporating our best-in-class customer journeys and seamlessly merging two legacy apps into a single, streamlined experience.

As the UX Design Lead, I played a key role in driving the design process under a fixed and demanding timeline. Fortunately, I had a talented team of five designers working alongside me, and we collaborated closely with business, tech, delivery, and other teams to stay on track.

Midway through the project, COVID-19 spread globally, forcing everyone to work remotely. This made coordination even more challenging. I still remember my busiest period from March to November 2020—I was juggling multiple projects across China and Taiwan while managing up to 15 meetings per day. Realizing this wasn’t productive or sustainable, I adopted a more strategic approach: only attending meetings where I could actively contribute. (Shoutout to Julie Zhuo—her Medium articles truly helped shape this mindset!) To this day, I continue following this principle, which has allowed me to focus on doing the right things, rather than just doing things right. This shift—from tactical to strategic thinking—was one of the most valuable lessons I gained from this project.

Ultimately, our strong teamwork and alignment enabled us to launch the new Digibank HK app in just one year—a significant improvement compared to the 2.5-year timeline of the Digibank TW revamp.

This is our first and only face-to-face meeting in HK in Jan 2020. Due to Covid-19 we changed the way we work and live, and it has sped up the digital transformation in the bank too.
