Anhui Art Museum

The Anhui Art Museum is one of my favorite interior design projects, not only because we won the China Interior Design Award (CIID) in 2014 but also because I truly enjoyed blending traditional and modern elements into a perfect union. To gain a deeper understanding of the culture of Anhui, I visited Huangshan, Xidi, and Hongcun with our team, where we observed and experienced the local lifestyle. We also took a closer look at Hui Architecture, one of the most famous architectural styles in Chinese history.

The museum spans approximately 50,000 sqm, and I had the privilege of designing its public spaces, including the Entrance Hall, Opening Ceremony Hall, Open Exhibition Halls, and other communal areas (about 10,000 sqm). After eight months of hard work, we won the bid for the project, and in the same year, we received the CIID 2014 Award in the K Category for Cultural Inheritance.

In December 2020, I received site photos of the museum from a former colleague. It had taken six years to see the final result, and I was overjoyed when I saw the photos. They were the best Christmas gift of 2020. I couldn’t wait to visit once the museum opened to the public.
