DBS LiveBetter

DBS LiveBetter is a multi-year initiative focused on sustainability and broader social impact. It enables customers to measure and offset their carbon footprint, contribute to local and global causes through donations, and grow their wealth responsibly by investing in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) funds that support sustainable businesses and long-term positive impact.

I’m grateful to have contributed as a designer on this initiative for 9 months. My key contributions include:

  • Redesigned the LiveBetter landing pages to accommodate new features while making it easier for users to understand the positive impact they have made—and can continue to make—through the platform.
  • Designed Spend Better, a new LiveBetter initiative that showcases Singapore-based SMEs offering sustainable products and services, supporting the local green ecosystem.
  • Enhanced the carbon footprint offset experience, applying affective design principles to create a more engaging and meaningful journey that encourages users to take action, while enabling them to use their unused DBS/POSB credit card reward points to offset their carbon footprint, making sustainable choices more accessible and effortless.

Through this experience, I gained a deeper understanding of sustainability, from how carbon footprints are measured to how thoughtful design can influence everyday behaviour. To me, LiveBetter is more than a UX project. It challenged me to think beyond usability and design experiences that inspire trust, create emotional connection, and encourage lasting behavioral change. By translating complex sustainability concepts into clear, relatable, and actionable experiences through data visualization, storytelling, and thoughtful interactions, I learned how design can empower people to make small, everyday decisions that collectively create a meaningful impact.
